What should an abstract view of a standard cell look like? Which layers should be visible? Metal only? And should you be able to see all nets or only external nets (Ones connected to pins)?

An abstract view contains
  • the cell borders
  • all pin metal(s) incl. access direction(s), usually on pin layer(s)
  • metal obstruction layers inside the cell borders, where necessary
Usually it's created automatically from the layout view.
