Hello guys i have a question for you.... how can i calculate the correct power dissipation of the IGBT switch in a boost converter (consider Vin max 40V e Imax 6A) ? Is right considering it about the same as the Pout? Please help me :| thank you
Are you trying to calculate the power losses in the IGBT switch itself? If so split it into these two parts:
1. Switching losses (Psw)
2. Conduction power loss (Pon)
The switching losses can be estimated as:
Psw = 0.5 x Vce x Ice x (tr + tf) x Fsw
Vce = measured voltage across switch in off state
Ice = measured peak current across switch when turning on
tr + tf = measured gate rise and fall times in your circuit
Fsw = switching frequency
The conduction losses during switch on state can be estimated as:
Pon = Ice x Vce(on)
Vce(on) = max collector-to-emitter saturation voltage at highest temperature.
