hello,

what is the difference between latches and flip-flops ?

Thanks

A flipflop is edge triggered (output changes to input value at an edge of the clock), a latch is level sensitive (output changes to input value when 'latch' input is at a certain logic level).

Sometimes in devices with only flipflops like fpga's, the word latch will be used for flipflop, wich is actually not very correct.
