best pic programmers

There have been many post here regarding different programmer for different microcontroller.

Try to find which suites your needs.

Things to consider:
1. Microcontroller that you will use
2. Range or family of microcontroller
3. Budget
4. Availability of parts if you want to do it yourself
5. Software compatibility
6. Interface that you will use (ex. serial, parallel, usb)

I have done several PIC programmer like:
1. P16PRO - a parallel port programmer which is supported by vast numbers of programming software. Winpic offers wide range of supported MCU.
2. DIY K149 - Supports serial and usb interface (using ftdi usb to rs232 converter). The software is MicroPro.exe only. It has a pre-programmed MCU inside.
3. GTP-USB Lite - Which I did today. It uses a pre-programmed 18f2550 so it is directly connected to the usb port without any converter needed.

If you need more info I'll be willing to post it here later.

Happy programming!!
