I'm working on a battery operated tesla coil and im completely stumped on how to convert the dc to ac to power my hv transformer

because ive got everything built but the converter or inverter or whatever you call it

will anyone respond

Bumping is not allowed, this is a warning, next time you will receive infraction points [alexan_e]

In the days of Tesla they used a rotary interruptor or polarity switcher to convert the DC to AC (the DC powered the motor of the interruptor/switcher) - operating like a commutator in reverse - the more poles on the commutator the higher freq AC you could get relative to the shaft revolutions per second.
Of course they had early AC generators too (Edison used a commutator to convert this AC to DC and all his plants were "DC") Tesla had access to single, two, three and poly phase AC from his generators. Also a relaxation oscillator relay circuit can be used to converter DC to primitive AC, Regards, Orson Cart.

Need to make some DC to AC inverter.

See some examples.

Lots of schematics on the internet:

dc to ac inverter schematic - Google Search

In order to choose some schematics need to have more details about ‘’battery’’ and power required to operate tesla coil.
