I would like to clarify my concept on basis for subspaces. For example: if you're given a time domain function, f(t)= { 1 for 0<t<1/4 and 3 for 1/4<t<1/2 }. How would you represent f(t) in terms of basis for subspace v2? Do we have to make use of the formula rho(2^j t - k)?
You need to express your function as a linear combination of the new basis vectors. Do you have the basis vectors for v2 ?
I am interested in this subject please explain what is OFB and V2. May be I can offer some help.

OFB is basically orthogonal filterbank and V2 is the subspace which is represented at V2=V1+W1. I believe (correct me if I stand wrong) that basis for V2 is rho(2^2 t - k) which is basically given in the book and the basis could be found by substituting the values of k and t from given f(t).
What do you think?
