bandwidth of coaxial cable

the coaxial cable that carries CATV channels, can carry hundreds of tv transmissions, what exactly can we say is the bandwidth of the coax cable.

There are two bandwidths. The absolute bandwidth is when the circumference is half a wavelength. This produces two modes of propagations with different speeds which distorts the signal at the receiving end.

There is a practical bandwidth due to attenuation increasing with frequency. This can be equalized by using a circuit with attenuation at lower frequencies. This makes the attenuation large at all frequencies.
