For a demonstration, I would need to create a bad electrical connection on a DIN rail terminal on purpose, which would then heat up under load. Ideas as to how to go about this, preferably without having to draw a silly amount of current through the terminal, appreciated.

Get some oxidation on it, seen a bunch of spade connectors
fail thermally from that once upon a time. You can force-
"anodize" it in a bath of peroxide, or something, if you're in
a hurry. If it's not fancy internally....

The only bad connection I have seen on a DIN rail device, was when an electrician failed to put the tongue of a mini busbar into the rising box terminal. he put it under the box and then UNDID the screw, so the bus bar was trapped between the underside of the box and the plastic MCB case.It eventually banged and flashed about and went open circuit.
