azimuth and elevation beamwidth on rectangular patch antennas not equal

hey guys,

I'm designed a 1x16 rectangular array patch antenna on high frequency and I'm getting about 19 dBi gain. My problem is my azimuth beamwidth is very large "20 degrees" and I want to drop it down to 10 degrees.

I tried the following to reduce the azimuth angle:
1. increased the grounded plane and it didn't help.
2. increased the patch thickness and it helped a little but I cannot increase it more!
Any suggestions? please let me know.

P.S. my elevation beamwidth is good about 6 degrees!

Think about it this way:
You have 1 element by 16 element.

You used 16 elements to get 6degrees beamwidth and now you want to use just 1 element to get 10degrees...

my design is 1x16 array antenna and I'm getting about 20 degrees! I want to reduce the degrees, what should I don? I believe you misunderstood me. My design is fed with one single feed and one patch feed the other until the last one "number 16". I'm not looking to increase my azimuth angle! I'm looking to decrease it.

Think about it this way:
You have 1 element by 16 element.

You used 16 elements to get 6degrees beamwidth and now you want to use just 1 element to get 10degrees...
