AVR beginners has some simple assembly basics C tutorials and general AVR useage.
AVR Freaks is the largest site I know of dedicated to AVR's and contains enough information on AVR's and their uses that it would take many months to go through all of it.
If you want the best AVR tutorial you can possible get though, pick a PDF file from an established AVR chip, say, the tiny15 (which I use) and read the PDF from cover to cover till you understand most if not all of what you're reading. A good long read (two or three times) will give you plenty of theory and practical explanation of their usage and capabilities. If you want more, Atmel's website is another good spot to go to, read the PDF's in the application notes section, as they contain a lot of code (both assembly and C) for real world applications from the simple to very complex.
