ATMEGA128 and atmega2561 ?

Is it possible for me using atmega2561 on atmega128 ?
I see pin to pin on datasheet are the same,

Any experiences ?

I think it should work, the only difference between the two is in some of the features.

It should not be an issue, provided your application does not utilize features which are not available on the substitute device.
