TL494 and TL494CN pulse width modulator?

I extracted them from a couple of PC power supplies.

Are they suitable for audio frequencies?

In my observation in smd version they can work on 500kHz carrier but built-in amplifiers is noticeably hiss.

It is for the purpose of singing tesla coil / HV arc.

So I am not all that concerned with high fidelity and all that.

Just needed to know if they could run at high enough frequency.

Would you happen to know of a site that explains how to use and connect the these ICs?

This depends not only from TL494 microcircuits but in not smaller degree from all design.
For this case "dead-bug" )) circuit style looks good, as showing by Mtwieg in https://www.edaboard.com/threads/276232/ (#10)

Regrettably no, as i see scintillas of information is strewn on Net (not to count towards datasheet). But you may do searching personally.
