Applying brakes to a 1-Phase AC Induction Motor

My aim is to apply brakes to a 1-Phase AC Induction Motor. Do i simply swap the motor terminals with the a DC source? or there are any better ideas for AC motor braking?

Motor specs: 220VAC 0.25Hp 1phase
