Try to add a pull up resistor at the output of IR receiver if you are getting some improper result.

I dont know the ASM and all. So i did not go through your code. But for testing purpose, you can use an IR led with a carrier frequency of 38Khz and check whether your circuit behaves as proximity sensor.
