Hello,

What is an "anti sulphur" 0603 resistor?

Our PCB assembler thinks our BOM resistors are anti sulphur, and theyre asking if they can use non anti sulphur types....i didnt even know they were "anti sulphur" in the first place.

yes but the links dont say if its to protect against sulphur in the atmosphere , or sulphur emitted by other electronic omponents on the pcb.

Apparently the normal air contains a minute quantity of sulphur, and it doent say of the anti sulphur property is to protect against this.?

That's a different question.

Sulphur in this context means hydrogen sulphide, which attacks most metals. It shouln't be considered as regular athmospheric content, but is present in some situations, e.g. chemistry, bioengineering plants, wastewater systems, also naturally occurring in swamps, volacanos, natural gas. I'm not aware of any electronic components emitting it.

If you read the references thoroughly, they are talking about electronics for harsh enviroment. "Anti sulphur" resistors would be useless unless the complete circuit is designed to resist the contaminants. If you are designing equipment for harsh enviroment, you should possibly consider it.
