Alternative to logging

Hi all,

I always use a log statements on important places in program. As it turn out it is only method that i have used and I can`t think of something to replace it :?:

So my question is: Is there some other method that can do better job ?

Well in order to answer the question one would need significantly more information. What springs to mind immediately is thing such as
- Embedded or Desktop target
- What OS, if any
- Degree to which logging is required (all actions/events only errors/exceptions)
