I would like to to know if there is an alternate method to do basic evaluation of a silicon chip and read voltage and current signals of a chip without PCB?
Any idea of these methods?
1. is there any individual chip socket for a silicon chip which I could connect to a adc board and view the output signals using Xilinx Chipscope tool ?
2.4 point probe setup used in nanolab will do the same ?
The chip probably won't work right without at
last some decoupling capacitors and signal-set.
Probe card or membrane probe can give you
direct access to the chip I/O pads. But you need
a bunch of test equipment on the other side of
that.
Direct wiring to package pins can be done,
"one-off" at least, but no fun on high pin count
high density (and the effects of wireball have
to be discovered).
