There could be lots of reasons ::
1) Air filter is chocked
2) Low Gas Level
3) Evaporator fins r chocked
4) Dirt in the Condenser fins
5) Fans r running at low speed
6) broken insulations on Suction & discharge lines
7) compressor performance has degrade
8) check the Thermostate is working fine (+ Electronic circuit)
9) check the relay that triggers the compressor motor is working fine.
10 never expose ur outdoor compressor unit directly to the sunlight use some shade (split type)
& many more . . .
