Hi,

Why often flyback is considered for low power.and for power rating above 100watts forward topology is recomented.
Thanks

Advantage and disadvantage of flyback over forward

Forward usually achieves higher power with the same core size, flyback has lower part count and larger voltage variation.

Re: Advantage and disadvantage of flyback over forward

FvM means that the basic flyback topology can more easily handle large input and/or large output voltage variations compared to a forward topology.

forward you make transformer smaller and with not such big gap.....as forward not have to store energy in the core so much...it just pass it through.

also look into peak voltages across switch and peak currents etc etc.
