Hi everyone!

I’ve been experimenting with some common base transistor amplifiers in ADS – and I thought I would download the S-parameters for another transistor and see how it would do in the same circuit. All transistor S-parameters seem to be generated with respect to a common emitter – does this make them unusable in other configurations? Should I float the ground reference (in the 2-port ADS data item) and ”pretend” it’s the emitter?

I found a paper (first Google hit) aptly titled ”Working with transistor S-parameters”

[link to IEEE paper deleted]

but the math is too complex for me – even though I hope to master RF-math in the not-too-distant future. Should I somehow recalculate the S-parameters?

Any help is very much appreciated.

hi annor,
you need to request s-parameter for common base from supplier. there is no other way to convert common emitter to common base!
