Add a Heatsink at the back of Northbridge is useful

Hello , I saw the back of some motherboards using low profile heatsink to cool the back of the Northbridge and the back of the CPU , can be useful or not ? ,I am worry about the possibility of a short circuit between this heatsink and the back of the mobo , of course adding a 2mm thick thermal pad can prevent the short between the heatsink and the mobo , thank you for the answer
