I accidentally clicked on the turn off option in the start menu in windows 7 and it just turned off my PC instantly with out any warning or confirmation. Is there anyway it could be prevented.

No, there is no any way to turn back from shutting down the windows.

Actually, there is: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -a" but you need to be quick.

That's not what was asked in the original question though.
