im building a electric vehicle from a 1974 VW beetle and i had a idea to help me drive further, i wanted to take a small 110v AC generator and convert the AC to DC and then regulate it to 98v, i need the circuit to handle at least 1000w, it doesnt have to be a perfect DC signal, just enough to charge the batteries, hopefully you can help im stuck up against a wall
Without getting too complicated, the way I would go would be to get a 110V -> 32* V transformer rated at 10A (output current). Wire this across the 110V with the 32V winding in series with the 110V so it should give 75 V. Apply this to a bridge rectifier with a large capacitor (>470 MF) across its output with any luck you should now have 102V or so. The problem now is to build a stabilizer to drop the 102V to 98 V. I would use a LM 317 + power transistor (to handle extra current). See :-http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheets_pdf/L/M/3/1/LM317.shtml ( change the value of the pot down to earth)
Will your generator actually deliver 110V at 10 A?
