50V from 12V DC to DC converter

Hey guys I want an 50V voltage source...(Current is not a big issue, but larger is better...)

I simply want to charge a 20,000uF Capacitor through it...

so is there any ic I can use for this application or please tell if you have any better idea... :grin:
 

You can make a simple non-isolated boost converter. Make sure you have current-limiting while charging the 20,000 uF capacitor!
 

As Tahmid said, a boost converter is a good option, there are many IC's that implement that. You will need additional components such as an inductor, capacitor, etc... some IC's that may work: LM3478, LM3481, LM5022, LM5001, LM5002

Here is an example based on TI TPS40210:
http://www.ti.com/tool/pmp5585 "The PMP5585 is a 70V, 1.3mF capacitor charger that keeps the input current constant to 400mA. The input voltage range is 6V to 15V."

There are also more specific IC's for capacitor charging which are typically used for camera flash applications such as http://cds.linear.com/docs/Datasheet/346812fa.pdf

If availability of specilized controllers is a problem (I'm not saying they are), you can even construct a boost converter using general purpose PWM controllers such as UC3845 and a handful of other components.
