5V to 3V buffer needed

Hello

I am communication with UART between two devices

on has a locic level 5 for high and 0 for low

the other has 3 volts for high and 0 for low

is there a buffer than be used to translate voltages between the two devices ?

knowing that I need it to translate levels both ways (TX and RX)

You are looking at the manufacturer 1000+ price, in a shop the price for a single chip as about 2$ ( **broken link removed** ).
Any of the above solutions using transistor or mosfet will be cheaper.

thanks 4 all your replies

I will read them and decide

by the way:

the high to low conversion is easy as I can put a volage devider(resistors)

however can I implement a low to high conversion by a transistor ?

noting that the levels will be inverted

so is there a simple switch that has 5V supply and takes 3V as an input signal and outputs
5V ?
