Regarding manufacturing techniques for phased arrays, is there any benefit to 3D printing?

I have seen 3D printed waveguide, but I am not sure this plays well with low cost phase shifters like varactor or MEMS.

have also heard of high-efficiency 3D antennas... but don't know a lot about that.

any help appreciated.
