2d capacitance solver

Hi, my friends:

Does any of you know which tool/solver
to use to calculate 2D capacitor(C) and conductance(G)?

I have used Ansoft Spicelink (2D) to calculate
C & G, but I want to compare the results with other
solver(s).

By the way, is there any tool which can do
Spectrum Domain Analysis (SDA)?

Thanks

comapre with classical

If you want to do a test, try classical shapes that have analytical solutions and compare with your simulator. This will also show the effects of simulation element size on accuracy.

Some classical shapes are coaxial cable with both conductors round, two conductor in circular shield, and coaxial with square outer conductor.

further question

How about the solution of multilayer structure
with lossy (finite conductivity) material?

Is there any closed-form equation to calculate
conductance & capacitance (not closed-form Green's function)
for a classic structure, such as a metal-SiO2-Si microstrip
or CPW?

Thanks

no

This has fringing fields which is why there are so many equations for predicting impedance.
