I'm trying to design the carrier frequency of 40KHz using an Oscillator.
The fc goes thru an Amplitude Modulator(MC1496) together with the message frequency, fm. How do i design this 40Khz oscillator ?
You can design an RC or LC oscillator, or obtain the signal by frequency division from a higher frequency oscillator/ microcontroller, if you already use it in your project.
For RC, design a Wien bridge or phase shift oscillator. For LC, the classical types Hartley, Colpitts... . For frequency division use logic circuits. What are the waveform you need, amplitude and frequency stability?
The datasheet for the MC1496 multiplier IC shows a 'scope pic of a sine-wave as the carrier frequency for an AM modulator.
Look at Sine-wave Oscilator Circuit in Google and you will find links to Wien Bridge, Phase-shift and a few other types of sine-wave oscillator circuits.
