Hi Can anyone help me i have a 1 volt signal from an i/o card and i need to control a relay
i have been told i need lots of different things to get this to work can someone tell me what i need
i done electronics 20 years ago but i am far from up to speed
Dear Friend
Hi
Do you want control a relay with one volt? it is simple , use a simple BJT transistor , that your relay is in it's collector , and use a anti parallel diode , in parallel with your relay at reverse bias . and the emitter should be grounded . and your one volt with a resistor will be connect to the base.

connect 1k resistor to i/o and the other end to transistor base, you may use the transistor like c945 or c1383,apply -ive to emitter and +ive through relay coil to collector and place a diode across the coil to avoide the back emf as goldsmith told you ealier, yours relay will operate provided you apply the dc voltage to the relay as per manufacturer instructios.
