If you convert 9Vdc to a 9Vpp square wave and put it through 9V-230V transformer you will have 230Vac (square, not sine wave) ..
How high voltage do you need?
YOU MAY GET VOLTAGE AS PER YOUR NEED.
FIRST MAKE A OSCILLATOR WITH GIVEN DC VOLTAGE. THEN PUT A DIVER CIRCUIT TO DRIVE OUTPUT TRANSFORMER ACCORDING TO YOUR VOLTAGE REQIREMENTS.
It depends on the internal resistance and current driving capability of the 9V source as well as the load [Voltage and Current requirements]. Say if you need continuous supply of 10KV @ 1mA, the source must be able to supply the power which is more than 10W [including the effect of conversion efficiency].
ill be using a car battery....and i want to convert my DC to AC..to a usable voltage of
220V...with 60hz frequency..
if kind enough pls help me or kindly give me a circuit..pls

I was asked about 220V output from some readers. The output voltage of the inverter is decided only in the transformer. You can use the transformer with 220V as for primary(input) and 12V as for secondary(output). At my circuit, primary and secondary should be used oppositely. Then, you will be able to get AC220V from DC12V.
Comments on Inverter Circuits suggested by "IanP":
Both the circuits are just suggested schemes, and need several protections and modification to avoid malfunctioning when loaded.
The power transistors are to be protected from transients and inductive load applications by inserting protection diodes and other components.
To avoid core saturation the drive must be either by square wave or by PWM.
Use of SN7400 with 100ohm and 2 diode drop is not recommended because of fanout limitations of the device.
The 2N3055 driven by 2SD880 [Darlington connection] will never saturate and will generate lot of heat that has to be dissipated by proper heat sink, besides the overall conversion efficiency is low.
The drive circuit in the full-bridge [Inverter 1] requires some modification to avoid supply short circuit [through TR3-TR4 or TR5-TR6] during each logic level change of IC1 pin 2.
Circuits under discussion are switching at 60Hz and the transition time (7400) is in the ns (nanoseconds) region .. Even if both power transistors are switched ON for one or more µs - so what? ..
According to the quoted website these circuits were build and tested by their designer/constructor, and I don't think any modification is required ..
Hello.. can someone pls tell me out of the 2 inverter schematic diagram posted here, which is working ?? have anyone tried it be4? does it produce sine wave??
