friends i am doing my thesis work in finger print security system.here i have to design a chip (ASIC). for that i have to write vhdl code ..i don't know how to read an image file in VHDL as well as I don't know how to compare two images in VHDL.I know well in MATLAB Programming .but in order to impliment on fpga i need to write code in vhdl..so please help me..or suggest any information regarding this ....thanks for ur replay

if you know how "the package" of image is, it's a good begining. After just compare bit a bit or byte a byte, depending of your error maximum acceptable tax. Have you ever tried using Cyclone Family, to use NIOS processor? you can program in C/C++...makes things easier :). Anyway, good luck!!!
