hi

I want to find mosfet to switch power to a usb modem dongle.

my raspberrypi output pin is 3.3 volts and my usb modem power is as expected, 5 volts.
Is there a mosfet at a gate voltage of 3.3volts that will fully switch on and supply 5 volts power without much drop across drain and source to the modem.

I want to put the mosfet in the high side of the modem's supply, meaning that the mosfet is in the 5 volt line.

Also would I need to use an opto coupler as well.

thanks

Hi,

No optocoupler needed.
There are dedicated USB power switches.
