Hi,

I see many interesting circuits in magazines, that i would love to try out. I have oriented myself from electronics engg. to neuroscience now, doing my masters. So, I am a bit rusty in the programs/softwares and new electronics!! :) Could any1 point me to the softwares which could help me simulate these circuits and understand better...

regards,
cedance.

i recommend the new proteus or the simplorer / great results

Can it be used to simulate say from easiest as in a timer circuit or a normal BJT amplifier, opamps, diff amps and also further complex circuits??

thanks,
cedance.

think you can try work bench or pspice...

How about orcad. You get models for almost all teh IC's for orcad environment.

yeah, thanks a lot guys, will try them out.

cedance.

The ones mentioned cost money or are crippled demo versions.

Here is a pretty good free spice simulator (no layout though):

Code:
http://www.linear.com/designtools/software/switchercad.jsp

LT also has other free soft here.

Code:

Most major semiconductor and magnetic core manufactures have free version software ,go to there sites and browse under design aids.

Ansoft has some student version soft for RF and magnetics you can try here:

Code:
http://www.ansoft.com/downloads.cfm

If you run Linux have a look at the gEDA project. Basically an open source OrCAD suite of tools. Does everything Sim, layout etc.

Cheers
