Hi everyone..................

i am going to work on a project related to 1G ethernet..........

my doubt is What exactly 1G refers to.........(i know tranfer rate of 1Gb/sec)

but what i would like to know is how do we determine the transfer rate in the

project.............


how do we verify whether the transfer rate is happening or not.............

Try to transfer/download a file and capture the traffic by any sniffer software like eathreal s

Use a really big file (the bigger the file, the more likely your measurements will be accurate) as well in order to give the link a chance to become fully utilised (although your computer/Operating System may not be able to keep up with a 1Gb/s link - in which case you are measuring the maximum speed that the compuetr/Operating System can transfer the file).
