Hi,
SKILL is based on LISP.
Learn basics of LISP & you'll learn basics of SKILL.
So, try and download lisp instead.
Thus, you don't need to have Cadence licenses.

If you need to learn to use SKILL for working in Virtuoso, start out by trying to understand how to get information from a design, then progress to something like how to get the number of FETs in a schematic, where are the co-ordinates of the resistors in a layout, etc.

Finally, go to the website suggested by Riad Kaced - you might get ideas on how to utilize SKILL fully.

Best regards.
