PWM or a relay system as a controler to temperature feedback system heating device

    Hi all,
I'm working on a temperature control feedback system using software to interface the hardware components. I'm having trouble whether to use a PWM (pulse width modulator) or just a relay system as a controler to my heating device. Any suggestions through experience?

    Thanks

    Re: Feedback System

    bigsamoncampus,
A relay system would certainly be the easiest to stabilize. If you use a PWM as a proportional output device, you will have to deal with a significant amount of lag introduced by the heating element itself.
