    ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS Instrumentation

    1. The current passing through a 10 ohm resistance is given by I=5+5√3 cos314t. The current is measured by a PMMC meter. What is the measured value?

Stupid question or trick question. Is there a rectifier in your meter? Does it have an AC range? If not, the answer is 5. If so, the answer is 11.1.

Interesting. So you're saying that a PMMC only measures Avg current? Good to know. Learn new stuff everyday.

    Re: ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS Instrumentation

PMMC = permanent magnet moving coil - meter, I think all moving coil meters give an average reading... moving iron have expanded scales as they are not linear with coil current ...
