Hello All,
What is the difference between correlated and uncorrelated phase noise? How to calculate phase noise at the output of a mixer when the phase noise of the input signals are specified for the following cases:
Case (A) Mixer is operating as downconverterOutput frequency = RF frequency - LO frequency)
(1) the input signals are coherent (i.e. phase noise are related to each other because they are phase locked to a single OCXO)
(2) the input signals are non-coherent.(i.e. the two signals are independent and not phase locked)
Case (B) Mixer is operating as upconverter: (Output frequency = IF frequency + LO frequency)
(1) the input signals are coherent (i.e. phase noise are related to each other because they are phase locked to a single OCXO)
(2) the input signals are non-coherent.(i.e. the two signals are independent and not phase locked)
