Sn754410 ic control dc motor

I found two ways to connect dc motor to this ic, but i don't know what is the right one.
This one is from the datasheet:

in the first there is no diodes..does it ok to connect motor without no diodes?
by the way, the 10k resistor is a pullup resistor?

The circuit you found with added diodes has duplicated the diodes that are already in the IC and it also adds other diodes that do nothing. So you do not need to add any diodes.
You can call the 10k resistor a pullup if you want. It establishes a logic 1 voltage level at the Enable inputs. To disable an output you give a logic 0 (ground) to the EN pin.

the circuits you posted are for (4wire 2 coils) bipolar stepper motor, not dc motor !!!!

you can use this IC to drive 2 DC motors ( Permenant magnet dc motor )
