Most modern AV devices do not have a power switch, and after switching to standby mode still consume current. The sum of currents from several receivers on standby brings us already significant losses. Presented system is a solution for this problem.

The principles of operation are really simple. To obtain information about the mode of operation supported receivers, the device uses a transformer (series TS2/xx) with removed secondary winding. In such created window there are placed two windings by mains, through them flows the whole current powering the receivers. The winding, that was primary, became the secondary one. Voltage induced in it is proportional to the current consumed by the receivers.
The system requires the power supply of about 5V with a low current efficiency.
Operation is simple – a momentary push of the button will provide voltage to the sockets of the terminal block for about 2 minutes. It is time to turn on the TV e.g. with a remote control. Turning off the TV is followed by a similar delay, for the case when turning off is accidental.
The threshold of “sustaining” can be regulated by adjustable resistor 47k. It can be set at about 100W.
The distinguishing feature of this system to others, commercially available, is lower cost and that it disconnects from the network not only receivers but also itself.
