i know a guy who has done a project involving transfer of text messages from PC to PC using LASER

that is not that tough since that involves just digital signals

what i suggest is try to transmit some audio or video using lasers

u want to design the link ? or u just want to implement it !
if u want the latest choice , then it's as simple as u by 2 wireless network cards (for example IEEE 802.11a/b) .. and that's it ..
u can also by a wireless router ( which is quite cheap these days ) and connect it to the internet from one side and from the other side, it will be used as access point inside ur home, and will be accessed by the 2 computers having the wireless LAN cards ...

hey ,these are the things that happen at most universities research labs. most of the college projects are based on cellular application.

hi there :) well i wanna suggest u somethin ... y dont u try communication through mains.. ya this is possible.. n cheap too ... as my finsl year diploma (i jus passed diploma)project i made a swithcing device through mains but u can still modify that... c, u can use a normal fm transmitter n then by use of some coding.. like dtmf u can transmit those signals between nutral n earth (earth should b connected 2 ur ckt's ground) n signal has to b injected in nutral. (check this connection every time otherwise ull loose it all) on othr end u ll receice this signal through fm rec. n decode it.

the dtmf coder ic is TP5089

n decdr is Mt8870/Ht9170

i m alwys there to hlp u out .. hope u like this project... n best of luck .. bye the way me 4 m india too. so rock it man!!

n see my suggestion will b dont go 4 any complex project ... jus do somethin new with wat u get readymade...

My project uses almost the same circuit provided by Microchip's X10 App. Note. I have just changed the microcontroller from 16F877 to 16F628A because I haven't put any LCD or keypad to any boards or PLM. Everything is sent through computer via serial port. I have written my own protocol for communication between PLM and I/O modules. The PLM is transparent i.e. it does not do any data processing. It just sends the bytes coming from RS232 over power lines and vice-versa.

What would you think about using power transmission line as data transmission line? This could be very big project (if thinking of ADSL on power line) or can be limited to data transmission for dual slope communication etc.
