what is microsd card?

hi
can any body tell me the difference in between sd and micro sd card.i heard that micro sd card does not support to spi interface than how it can be interface with microcontroller.

but in micro sd card it dose,t support spi mode and 4 bit mode but sd card support it then how can it be compatible with sd card with passive adapter only.

Where did you get the information about unsupported SPI mode? I think, it's simply incorrect.
