Hi all,
I am using a 3COM 3C17300 SuperStack 3 Switch. when I connect an Ethernet cable to it the LED on the port starts to blink. I want to know what exactly does it mean in theory? does it mean that the switch has verified a device with valid MAC address, or it just simply states a physical connection between a device and the switch?
I am asking this because I am experimenting an embedded web-server by using famous Microchip ENC28J60 MAC & PHY layer Ic. I do not initialize the primary settings on my ENC28J60. When I connect it to my computer, it establishes a connection but no packets are received from the device. And when I connect it to the switch, the LED on the socket starts to blink. I want exactly happens in theory.
