in AES-XCBC-MAC-96 "RFC 3566" it was stated that :"A strong pseudo-random function MUST be used to generate the required
128-bit key."

do anyone here know which pseudo random function is used in this standard or it is a security issue no one can know it expect those who want to implement it ??

thanks,

NIST Special Publication 800-108
Recommendation for Key Derivation Using Pseudorandom Functions

h**p://csrc.nist.gov/publications/nistpubs/800-108/sp800-108.pdf

This Recommendation specifies several families of key derivation functions that use pseudorandom functions. These key derivation functions can be used to derive additional keys from a key that has been established through an automated key-establishment scheme
