core detection fingerprint

i'm trying to find the core point of fingerprint and i hv some questions...

1) anyone knows the steps to find core point ?
2) i read some book, there are the closed and eroded steps in finding core point, what is the function?

Hi,

I am Nabeel. also working on fingerprint and now-a-days stuck on it. First find out the orientation field. For that least mean square algo can be used. After that Poin core index, slope marking method, Detection of curvature techniques can be used. If any other thing plz don't hesitate to ask me. But i am still working on it :D. This is the info i got after 1 month hardwork
