Hi guys,
I wanna know what the latest version of "Cadence IC" suite is? please share what you know here, about any outstanding available updates.
Thanks all
Hi ic98
I did not post any link and the number of differences (resolved bugs) is probably in the several hundreds (try opening one of the detailed release notes if you are curious), in terms of improvements/new features it really depends on which product you have available; we only have a limited license pool so I doubt it would be a complete description by any mean. I would refer to your EDA administrator to get the relevant release notes.
Off the top of my head I can tell you that:
-we barely used IC6 until they released 6.1.3
-since 6.1.4, virtuoso is a full 64bit application (it was about time), which is very important to open very large designs e.g. full-reticle post-filling/cheesing ICs
-other side effects of 64-bit libs is that the buses can now be much much larger than 64000 elements (very useful for CMOS imagers)
-the syntax for complex buses (using multipliers and such) has become more reliable (we used to see netlisting problem depending on release)
-since 6.1.4 library manager now has cell previews
-the management of lib.defs has improved
-the final quality of the environment (# of bugs) really depends on the PDK, just changing the ISR version can completely break a PDK
-...
Oops! oermens did..
thanks for the comments.
actually I'm still a student, and not involved with VERY LARGE circuit simulations yet. beside the 64-bit version capabilities you said, and some bug resolving, has any new feature been added to the either 6.1.4 or 6.1.5 suite? a new important tool i mean.. (can you refer me to an online concise release note?)
as dgnani mentioned, your cad tool manager will be the one who can access cadence sourcelink. if you want more specific details about the release without downloading it you might want to try the Cadence Community Forum where several support engineers also post. also refer to your PDK's release notes to see which version of the tools are recommended, perhaps IC615ISR1 is too recent and "unsupported" (but not necessarily incompatible). thats one of the first things a foundry will point to when you go to them with problems.
