I am making a tracking antenna for solar radio astronomy. I have a pair of satellite dish positioners as they are cheap. I could dismantle them and use the motor and electronics but I could also use them correctly as DiseqC positioners. For a start the memories will be useful.

I can find designs for receiver/controllers but I cannot find a single example of a master controller ie a unit to send DiseqC commands. The positioners are 1.2 so I don't need bi-directional signalling.

Anyone know of a DiseqC master controller design?

Regards

David

dgoadby,
I'll start by saying I am not familiar with the DiseqC protocols. However, this *may* interest you.
www.stoff.pl is the home of "Orbitron". This is a celestial object (mostly sats) tracking program with a hook to drive az-el rotors. All rotor drivers are external and there are a few of them. If you could find some info on the API, it may help you.

Ohh... and it's free ;) We like free.
Best of luck.

There is a full list of the DiseqC protocol and a sample program on (I think) the Eutelsat web site. It might take some finding and I might have a copy of it archived here but it would take a while for me to find it.

Brian.

Thanks for that; a fascinating site and one which will take hours to fully explore ;-)
