Hi Friend

I have one project,

in which, I have to use two seven segment and one Microcontroller.
and i want to interface between Microcontroller and segment using two wire(I2C).

Is there any Technique or any Hardware, that do this type of interface with Seven segment?

Because, i want to save IO Pin of my controller.

Thanks in Advance
Shyam

Hi Shyam,
there are of course external hardware devices that can control displays via I2C or USART, but are you ready to pay the extra cost for driving only two 7-segments??
I suggest you, if you can, to use a somewhat more powerful micro with more I/Os and drive the segments directly.

Thanks kalbun

Hi Shyam,

I am ready to pay extra cost, because my project cost is about $5000 dollar.

I suggest you, if you can, to use a somewhat more powerful micro with more I/Os and drive the segments directly.

I have already use PIC32MX575F256H which has 51 IO pin

So, Please give me some hint for interface with 7 Segment using two or three wire.

Shyam

I suggest you to go to Mouser or Digikey web site, and look for ICs/drivers/LED drivers.
I did it myself on Mouser. I can suggest you SAA1064/N2 from NXP, for example, or TCA6507PWR from TI. Both can drive 7-segments with I2C, and they are much cheaper I could suppose :)
