Research project on LTE

Hi. I am a final year student and gonna do my research project on LTE. I need some suggestion on which part of LTE I should concentrate considering the recent research scenario. Any suggestion, advice or information will be very helpful to me.

I'm working on master project about LTE technology integrating in local (Latvian) networks.
It is no any problem with theory to write (a lot information in internet can be found). But the problem for my project is practical part - what is better to make? I was searching about simulation on LTE, but nothing...

Can you advice something?

Self organizing networks in LTE is hot topic these days... and you can use software tools instead of live networks for practical measurements and testing...
