Need explanation of a sentence from J.Baker

This sentence is taken from book J. Baker. We often treat DC voltage sources shorts when doing AC analysis (and current sources as opens).

What actually means by "shorts" and "open"??

Do you know how to determine the tail current of of a CMOS differential pair with diode connected loads?

it is determined by how many gain you need in the differential pair. Many book have shown this equation.

hello kwkam,

thx for the reply. it is really helpful. so the drain current from M3 and M4 are controlled by tal current Ibiasor tail current(see attachment)? Am i right?
